The ART 120 Painting I course covers the following material:
• Ability to paint from direct observation
• Ability to execute grisaille painting, limited palette paintings, painting in layers/glazes, and alla-prima painting
• Solid basic skills in oils or acrylics
• Basic critique skills
• Solid grasp of color mixing
• Solid grasp of compositional principles and compositional analysis
• Knowledge of painting supports, how to prepare them, and the differences between each
• Basic painting vocabulary
• Ability to name and discuss several important historical painters and several contemporary painters
Please submit ONE application. Re-submissions with additional work or documentation is not allowed.

Approval does not necessarily award unit credit.
It can take up to 2 weeks to review each request. Notification will be provided via email.
Waivers should be submitted as soon as possible.
