Course Equivalency Review
Important Note:
Approval does not necessarily award unit credit.
It can take up to 2 weeks to review each request. Notification will be provided via email.
Waivers should be submitted as soon as possible.
• You must have taken a college-level course that also teaches the major theoretical positions of the 20th and 21st centuries, which also emphasized and showed many examples of art and design to accompany the theoretical discussion.
• The class should emphasize art theory and visual culture.
• You must demonstrate an understanding of concepts such as: utopianism in art, dada, modernism, post-modernism, post-colonialism, feminism, and so on.
• The course must have required at least 10 to 12 readings from major theory or art writers of the contemporary era.
• The course must have substantial writing requirements; for example, one 5-7 page paper on contemporary art, along with shorter assignments.
