Gateshead pizza hotspot finds new home inside well known pub days after shutting down

There's good news for regulars of a certain pizza takeaway just days after it closed down in Gateshead

Its owner said that its closure last week wouldn't be the end of the story for popular Gateshead pizza spot Nate's and he was true to his word as, just days after its closure in Windy Nook, it's got a new home. And it's now in residence in a very well known pub in Ryton.

It was back in the summer of 2025 that ChronicleLive first reported on Nate's opening in its original home of Gateshead Leisure Centre, where founder Nathan Stokoe was serving pizza, pasta and soon much buzzed about Sunday dinners through a hatch in the wall. Nate's tenure at the leisure centre came to an towards the end of last year, with Nathan then taking over a vacant premises in Windy Nook, as Nate's became even more of a word of mouth success.

Nathan broke the news last week that Nate's had closed, with his statement explaining that factors like an increase in rent and running costs left it 'impossible' for him to continue at Windy Nook, as he confirmed his 'difficult decision' to close. However, Nathan signed off by adding: ''From the bottom of my heart, thank you all for being part of the Nate's journey. Your support has never gone unnoticed, and I hope you'll stick with me for what's coming next.'

And the next chapter for Nate's will be at The Half Moon Inn in Ryton, with Nathan sharing news of the move on Facebook earlier this week and writing: 'We'll be serving our famous Nate's favourites alongside a fantastic pub menu, with food available to eat in or take away.
