Keychron B11 Pro foldable keyboard review: slim and light accessory works well on every platform

Keychron has a reputation for crafting reliable, modifiable, top quality products and this one is suited to anyone who works on-the-go a lot

Keychron B11 Pro is an ultra-portable foldable wireless keyboard that’s especially ideal for use with tablets and foldable smartphones.

I was keen to test it as a companion keyboard for Android foldables such as Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold7. However, it also works with Mac, Windows, Linux and iOS operating systems so I tried it out with a multitude of devices.

The B11 Pro uses an Alice design which means the traditional QWERTY key rows are split into two angled halves and curved outwards. This approach is meant to reflect the natural angle of your hands and fingers, so you have reduced wrist strain and shoulder tension.

Keychron B11 Pro in everyday use

Keychron B11 Pro is not a mechanical keyboard. It uses low-profile keys (like an Apple Magic Keyboard, for example) with a scissor switch mechanism. It’s a comfortable and reliable typing experience, and the keys have a lot of travel. You don’t need to press the keys too hard. But obviously using the Alice layout takes a bit of getting used to. Especially when it comes to the B and N keys, for example. It’s so light weight yet feels well built.

The ultra-thin space grey coloured keyboard connects using Bluetooth, 2.4Ghz dongle or a USB-C cable and has a 250mAh battery inside rated for about 138 hours of use from a single charge. I’ve tested it using both the wireless and wired connections. It’s a fun keyboard to use and I like how unusual it looks.

The B11 Pro is compatible with the Keychron Launcher, a free, web-based, app that enables you to customise keys and shortcuts, create macros, adjust settings and update the firmware. It’s got a hall effect sensor that automatically powers off the keyboard when folded. It’s so slim and light that you can carry it anywhere in a backpack or laptop bag with ease.

On the downside, it's not the quietest keyboard and there is no backlight, but neither of these issues would be a dealbreaker for me with such a portable and light keyboard that you can take anywhere.

Keychron B11 Pro verdict

I’ve tested Keychron B11 Pro with an array of devices and enjoyed using it immensely. If pairing it with a foldable phone, you may still need or prefer to have the handset on a stand in front of you. Which means three things to carry about, just keep that in mind.
