Tributes pour in for 'great character' killed in Kildare motorcycle crash
Seamus “Seamie” McGivern sadly died following a motorcycle crash in Kildare over the weekend
Tributes have poured in for a "great character" with a "warm welcoming smile" who tragically lost his life following a collision.
Seamus 'Seamie' McGivern, aged in his 50s, sadly died following a single-vehicle motorbike crash at Killick, Kilcock, Kildare at around 10.45am on Saturday, July 4. Seamie, from Leixlip, Co. Kildare was fatally injured and pronounced dead at the scene.
His death notice on RIP.ie reads: "Beloved son of the late Anne and Seamus. Sadly missed and fondly remembered by his wife Audrey, children Alex and Joe, siblings Anne, Julie and Cormac, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family and many good friends.
"Seamie’s funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date. May he rest in peace."
Tributes have poured in from far and wide for Seamie, who was praised as a "great character" with a "warm welcoming smile and a great heart".
One mourner penned: "Deepest sympathies to all the McGivern family and Seamie's many many friends on his untimely passing. A great character, a man who had time for a chat with everyone, a warm welcoming smile and a great heart. May Seamie rest in peace."
Another shared: "Our sincere condolences to Audrey, Alex and Joe. We never passed the house without a smile and a wave from Seamie, he was a lovely man who we have no doubt will be sorely missed by many. May he rest in peace."
One more added: "So shocked and sad to hear of Seamie's sudden death. He was a wonderful, kind person with a genuine interest in everyone he met. So sorry for everyone that grieves him- he reached out to a lot of people."
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward.
A Garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a single vehicle fatal road traffic collision in Killick, Kilcock, Co. Kildare this morning Saturday 4 July."
They added: "Road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in Killick, Kilcock, Co. Kildare this morning between 10:30am and 11:00am are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
"Anyone with information is asked to contact Naas Garda Station on 045 884 300, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station."
