Fears for RTE Late Late Show as new odds fuel speculation
The show has been running for over 63 years and some punters are edging towards the show being cancelled.
With no host yet announced for the next season, questions continue to swirl over the future of RTE's iconic Late Late Show.
The show first premiered on Friday, July 5, 1962 on RTE and has been running for over 63 years.
While RTE has not suggested the show is facing cancellation, uncertainty over its future has prompted bookmakers to open a market on whether it could be dropped from the broadcaster's Friday night schedule.
Ladbrokes is currently offering odds of 4/1 on The Late Late Show being cut from RTE's Friday night line-up.
Patrick Kielty has hosted the programme for the past three seasons, but RTE has yet to confirm if he will be back for the next series.
With no host confirmed, betting markets have also reflected wider uncertainty about the programme's future.
Spokesperson for Ladbrokes, Nicola McGeady, said: “The Late Late Show is iconic and the rumours are certainly worrisome about its future which is reflected in the odds."
