Joan Collins left ‘fuming’ as husband had ‘fire coming out of eyes’ in supermarket clash

Dame Joan Collins and her husband Percy Gibson got into an altercation at a supermarket, after the Dynasty actress got 'hurt' by a fellow shopper bumping into her with a trolley.

Dame Joan Collins, 93, has revealed how her husband Percy Gibson, 61, rushed to defend her after a man "bumped into her with his trolley in M&S".

Much to the surprise of the Dynasty legend's fans, despite her international fame, she will often frequent the local supermarket "disguised in an anorak and baseball cap" to do her weekly food shop.

However, on a recent trip, she was left "fuming" and in some pain due to the unfortunate trolley incident, and had to talk her husband down after he angrily confronted the man in response.

Recalling the mishap, Joan told the Daily Mail Weekend Magazine of Percy's response and her attempt to defuse the tense situation: "Fire came out of his eyes! And I said, 'No, no, no, no, don’t darling! It’s fine, I’m not hurt.'

"I was, actually! Only slightly. You don’t like to be bumped with a trolley!"

Dame Joan used the moment to back up her opinion that British people aren't as polite these days, while crediting the younger members of her family as an exception to the rule.

The Hollywood star continued: "My grandchildren and my nephews and nieces are all very polite and well-mannered, but I’ve seen some young people who are not.

"I’ve seen some old people who are not too, like the man who bumped into me: he was in his late 60s. I think there’s a culture: Great Britain used to be known for everybody being incredibly polite and well-mannered. I don’t think we’re as polite now.

"We’re not known for our politeness as much as people in Spain and Italy, for example."

Thankfully, interviewer Stephen Smith noted that Dame Joan looked "none the worse for her encounter with a shopping cart".

Dame Joan, who turned 93 this month, looks incredible for her age, but is against fad diets and cosmetic tweakments.

She credits her youthful looks to "healthy living", telling The Telegraph: "I don't eat junk, I get eight hours of sleep, I exercise. It's very simple."
