Fire TV Stick users urged to restart their devices as major change confirmed

Amazon is rolling out a big upgrade for its Fire TV devices, but some users may need to restart their devices to get it.

There’s a blockbuster free upgrade arriving on Fire TV devices this month that’s worth watching out for. Amazon has announced the rollout of its redesigned Fire TV experience, which the firm boasts is cleaner, faster, and better organised, making it easier to find content you actually want to watch.

Amazon has also added categories so you can more easily see movies, TV shows, news, live content, and sports across all services you use. Other extras in this release include pinning more of your go-to apps so they appear on the home screen, there’s also a new menu system which is easier to use, and when you now press and hold the Home button, you’ll instantly open the handy Shortcut Panel without pausing your video.

Another huge bonus is that this latest system update, which is totally free to download and install, offers a performance boost of up to 30%.

Finally, with a summer of football just around the corner, Fire TV users will be able to stay up to speed with their teams through a dedicated football hub that will provide details on when the next match is playing and take them direct to live games on their local providers.

Amazon says the new Fire TV experience is now rolling out now to Fire TV Stick HD (newest model) and Amazon Ember Artline devices. Other models, including the Fire TV Stick 4K Max, are expected to get the changes soon.

“We're excited to bring this faster, easier way to enjoy everything you love to watch to even more Fire TV devices in the future. Stay tuned for updates on expanded device availability.”

If you own a compatible device and don't see the update yet, try restarting your device:

Go to Settings > My Fire TV > Restart

Wait for your device to restart and check for the new interface

If you still don't see the new experience after restarting, it simply means the update hasn't reached your device yet.

“No need to worry—it will arrive automatically in the coming weeks. You don't need to do anything else; just sit tight and the update will come to you!” Amazon confirmed.
