Coleen Nolan on verge of tears as she recalls late sister sleeping with her boyfriend
Celebs Go Dating star Coleen Nolan was almost in tears as she recalled finding out that her late sister had slept with her boyfriend behind her back several years ago
Coleen Nolan was almost in tears as she recalled finding out that her late sister had slept with her boyfriend. The Loose Women star, 61, can currently be seen looking for love again on the latest series of Celebs Go Dating, and became visibly emotional in front of the cameras as she recounted having to deal with the tough revelation.
She said: "I was with him [an ex] for two years, and then he went with my sister. For two years. We lived together. I feel bad because it’s one of my sisters that passed away."
The singer, who shot to fame alongside her siblings as part of The Nolan Sisters in the late 1970s, was then asked if she ever spoke to her sister about what she had done, and admitted she did eventually, but it took her years to confront her about it.
She added: "No, not for 20 years after it happened. Everyone was like ‘how can you be so calm about that?’ And I said well, I’m not going to lose my sister over him because he’s not worth it."
Coleen, who was initially married to EastEnders star Shane Richie from 1990 until 1999 and was then married to Ray Fensome from 2007 until 2018, has lost two of her sisters to cancer, with Bernie passing away from the disease in 2013 at the age of 52, and, in 2025, Linda died at the age of 65.
While she did not specify which of her late sisters it was during her Celebs Go Dating appearance, Coleen previously admitted on Loose Women that it was Bernie.
She said: "I was seeing somebody, living with him for two years and then my sister ended up being with him. Maureen told me, and I knew anyway. I was deciding at the time that I didn't want to be with the guy but it was still shocking and hurtful.
"We never fell out because I thought he wasn't worth losing my sister over. And also, a bit snide of me, I loved sitting back and seeing how long it would last, and it didn't!"
Loose Women anchor Kaye Adams then asked Coleen whether she felt she had been more "betrayed" by the sister who had got involved with her boyfriend, or the man himself.
She added: "I was more betrayed by probably my sister at the time. We grew up as six girls and we had the same taste in guys. The difference is with me is that it was fight to the death for the guy but when he picked who he wanted, that was it. Obviously, it went a bit further than that with those two."
Coleen noted that the confrontation between the pair came at a time when they were working together, and instantly knew the truth behind the betrayal when she saw her sibling in their dressing room.
She reflected: "I remember seeing her for the first time, we were working together, sharing a dressing room. I walked in and knew she knew. I just said 'Can I borrow that lipstick?' I just thought, let them get on with it."
Coleen admitted that it was the "right thing" for her sister Maureen to do by informing her, and then decided to reveal the identity of the sister in question.
She added: "It was right for her to do, it would've been really hard for..." Coleen paused before admitting: "Bernie, I'm gonna say it was Bernie, to face me."
"It would've been hard for Bernie to face me and Maureen telling me gave me time to process it before I kind of met up. We were fine after that, honestly. Absolutely fine. And they didn't last anyway."
