Our team is responsible for the design, development, and management of academic, research and administrative spaces across USC Dornsife’s department, centers, and institutes. We lead short and long-term capital projects that develop and enhance Dornsife facilities to support current and future academic and research programs. In addition, our team facilitates programs related to business continuity and workplace safety between our Dornsife units and university partners.

Architectural Services and Space Management

We support current and future academic and research needs by planning, designing, and managing academic, research, and administrative spaces.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct short and long-term space planning to optimize allocation based on programmatic needs
  • Identify and support relocations, renovations, and capital projects aligned with strategic priorities
  • Partner with Principal Investigators (PIs) to deliver lab renovations that meet research, operational, and budget requirements
  • Coordinate capital projects with USC Facilities Planning and Management, consultants, contractors, and vendors
LABORATORIES

Academic and Research Facility Management
We support advanced research and education by maintaining functional, adaptable laboratory and research environments, including research labs, instructional labs, and data facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the performance and reliability of research and instructional labs
  • Collaborate with departments to address operational facility needs
  • Coordinate facility issues and service requests with FPM and campus partners

We provide consistent, flexible support that advances Dornsife’s academic and research mission.

Expert In-House Support

Specialized Academic and Research Services

Our team provides specialized expertise to support research facility operations, including:

  • Scientific Glassblowing
  • Research Equipment Support
  • Research Data Center Planning

Key Contributions:

  • Technical fabrication, maintenance, and repair of scientific glassware and research equipment
  • Support for lab instruments and systems, including troubleshooting and maintenance coordination
  • Coordination with researchers, departments, FPM, and EHS to address specialized lab needs
  • Assessing research data center technical and space requirements
  • Coordination with researchers, departments, FPM, EHS, ITS, or COLO to address specialized lab needs

Workplace Safety

Safety and Compliance Coordination

We collaborate with DPS, Fire Safety and Emergency Planning (FSEP), Environmental Health and Safety (EHS), and the Office of Institutional Accessibility and ADA Compliance to support safety and compliance across Dornsife spaces.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate corrective actions from safety inspections and assessments
  • Support training and emergency preparedness requirements
  • Liaise with EHS, FPM, and campus partners to support compliance standards

We assist Dornsife units in addressing safety findings, with emphasis on research and workplace environments.

Dornsife Hubs, Centers and Institutes

Business Continuity and Facilities Support

We support annual updates and readiness of business continuity plans for 70+ departments, centers, and institutes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support BCP updates, readiness, and document standardization
  • Assist with emergency preparedness training and tabletop exercises
  • Coordinate response to facilities emergencies (e.g., leaks, floods, outages)
  • Support recovery of access and operations following disruptions

We help ensure continuity of research, instruction, and operations through coordinated planning and response.

Infrastructure

Dornsife Property Loss Prevention, Response, and Recovery Support

We support Dornsife units in managing property damage incidents and insurance claims through coordinated documentation and recovery efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support protection of academic and research facilities and high-value assets
  • Coordinate incident response, mitigation, and claims documentation with Risk Management
  • Partner with Business Offices to facilitate timely replacement of critical items
  • Collaborate with EHS, safety, and risk management teams to support operational continuity

This work helps reduce disruption and sustain continuity across Dornsife operations.
