Hi! My name is Luca

Hey reader! my name is Luca, I'm the Director of 50 cents media, a consulting, training and content creation agency based in London, I'm also an international speaker and an O'Reilly author.

We are entering a new era. AI isn't replacing architects or developers but changing how we design systems, how teams build software, and what great architecture looks like. My work is helping engineering organisations navigate that shift by making better architecture decisions in the Age of AI.

I've spent 20+ years helping engineering organisations design distributed systems that scale, not just technically, but organisationally. Architecture isn't only about technology; it's about enabling teams to move faster, make better decisions, and build software that lasts. At DAZN, as VP of Architecture, I led the transformation towards microservices and micro-frontends at streaming scale, helping reshape how engineering teams delivered software across the organisation. At AWS, I partnered with some of the world's largest organisations as a Principal Solutions Architect, leading the EMEA go-to-market strategy for serverless, delivering keynote and breakout sessions at re:Invent, and facilitating architecture workshops, Event Storming sessions, and distributed systems design across industries including retail, finance, media, travel, healthcare, energy, insurance, and the public sector.

I spent a decade turning micro-frontends from a nascent idea into an established architectural discipline through research, experimentation, open source, and the O'Reilly book that has become a reference for engineering teams modernising their front-end architectures. I've helped hundreds of organisations worldwide design and scale modern web applications using these principles.

Today, my research focuses on how AI is reshaping software architecture: from engineering workflows and software design to the evolving role of architects in an AI-native world.

I've delivered more than 350 talks and workshops at re:Invent, QCon, GOTO, NDC, O'Reilly Superstream, the Google Developer Expert Summit, and conferences around the world. I also facilitate architecture cohorts for QCon and InfoQ, helping senior engineers and architects navigate the challenges of modern software architecture.

I'm the voice behind the Dear Architects, Token by Token and Micro-Frontends newsletters, host of the Micro-Frontends in the Trenches and Dear Architects podcasts, and regularly share insights with a global community of software engineers through articles, videos, and conference talks.

My obsession is taking the hardest architecture concepts and making them impossible to misunderstand.
