The 2025 scholarship application window to start an application closed December 12, 2025. If you started an application between July 1, 2026 through December 12, 2025, you still have until December 23, 2025 (Midnight, CST) to complete and upload the rest of your documents to become eligible. Completion of your junior year of high school is required for all ROTC applications.

For information on next year’s 2026 scholarship application window, projected to open after July 1, 2026, please check our website for updates after the close of the 2025 application cycle.

IMPORTANT: Prospective applicants planning to take one or more gap years between high school graduation and college entrance must apply during the cycle for the academic year in which they intend to enroll in college and begin the AFROTC program.

Scholarship & Non-scholarship Applicants

Entry to Air Force ROTC is not limited to scholarship recipients.  Applicants who are not selected or choose not to apply for an AFROTC scholarship are encouraged to participate in the program with the possibility of being considered for other scholarship opportunities while in college.

If you are not applying for a scholarship, you can still apply online.  Applying online will put you in contact with an AFROTC admissions officer and provides your intent to participate in the AFROTC program upon arrival at college.  Another option to apply, is to sign up for AFROTC classes when you arrive at college.  You can find your detachment’s contact information on our College Locator.

High School Student

Joining Air Force ROTC is one sure way to get the most out of your college experience. Once you click the Apply Now button, you’ll be taken from Air Force ROTC website to the Holm Center web page. This is where you will create your account, build your profile, and apply to the program.

Enlisted Airman

If you’re an enlisted Airman or Guardian considering becoming an officer, joining AFROTC enables you to earn a commission. Please check our Enlisted Airman scholarship section for guidance on potential scholarships and the general application process.

College Student

If you’re already in college, it’s not too late to experience the benefits of joining Air Force ROTC. In order to be eligible, you must fulfill all requirements and must have completed at least one term as a full-time student.

Service CommitmentA Duty and An Honor

After completing all Air Force ROTC and academic degree requirements, cadets accept a commission as second lieutenants in the Air Force or Space Force, appointed by the president of the united states.

The length of your initial service commitment depends on your career. Most officers have a four-year active-duty service commitment. Pilots have a 10-year active-duty service commitment, and both Combat System Officers and Air Battle Managers have a six-year service commitment upon completion of their respective training.

Nursing graduates accept a commission in the Air Force Nurse Corps and serve four years on active duty after completing their licensing examination.
